Happy Birthday Brendon

Happy Birthday to my husband-- the big old 32 finally caught up to him!

I'll post some new pictures in the next couple of days.

Nothing too much new with us. We had a nice Memorial weekend. Friday we had some friends over to grill, Saturday we went to my parents to help bring a tree down. So Brendon was on the tractor with a chain connected to the tree and my dad had the chain saw going. The tree was right next to the house, so they had to do it right! The tree came down great and then they cut it up and used the tractor to drag it to a better place to burn. Henry and I worked on picking up the little sticks.. it was so cute, he'd pick up one little stick, then put it in the wheel barrow for me... he was a little scared at the tractor, but got used to the noise soon. I took him on a 4 wheeler ride too which I think he liked a lot once we got going. Then after that we ran to Apple Valley to run some errands and noticed Henry's eyes were all gooky... so I called the clinic and darn, they had just closed. But said Woodbury was open on Sunday's. Then all night, Henry's eyes were just all gunked up and runny. So Sunday morning we went up to Woodbury and got to see a Dr very quickly there. Just as I suspected, and ear infection. It's only his 2nd ever, but the same thing happened last time he got one. So we got some medicine for him and he's back to normal. You'd hardly know the kid was in any pain, he acts pretty normal even with icky ear infections. He's also teething now too, he's getting all 4 eye teeth right now.. he's doing very well with it, not nearly as bad as the molars were for him.
Then Sunday I went to 2 baby showers and a wedding shower for some Nieburs, then went home and got Henry and took him to my Grandma's to see everyone-- they had a little grill out-- just 20 or 30 people. Then Monday we went to another grill out at some friends... Henry didn't really get any naps that day, so he was sure crabby by 5pm... but we went on a walk and that seemed to make him happy... now it's all back to normal again.

My birthday

My birthday was Monday so I took the day off to spend with my favorite little guy. We had a great day of doing nothing! Then Brendon came home from work and I was convinced that he had forgotten... but of course, my lovely husband remembered. He kept bringing in gift after gift after gift from the garage... first was some flowers for me to plant and some pink gardening gloves, then a very pretty hummingbird windchime set, then a big tall shepards hook for my hanging flower baskets, THEN a beautiful bird bath for our front yard... he knows I've been trying to get into gardening and taking care of my flowers and such... I have a lot to learn, but it's coming along. My garden is actually growing-- things are sprouting!!
Then my family came over for pizza and brats.. we had lots of fun and Henry is in his glory when people are over, so we had a nice night!

Fun stuff

So Henry is the same, just wonderful. He's finally pretty much out of his tantrum stage, he hasn't hit his head on the wall in a while, so that's good. He's starting to talk more too. He also (when he wants) will tell you where his nose is, his eyes, his ears, his head and his belly! He loves to show off his belly. It's fun how he really understands us too.. Brendon will ask him to go get things and he does.. next up is a beer (so Bren says) : ).
Here are a few new pics

A new toy that grandma Pam found for us at a garage sale.. it's exactly what we were looking for! It works great on our big deck.

He still loves shoes! : ) Do a little dance Henry....

He loves brushing his teeth.. it's not real good at actually "brushing" but the concept is there! : )

Mothers Day Weekend

Brendon left Friday morning to go up north for fishing opener, so he took Henry to daycare that morning then took off. My mom picked Henry up Friday afternoon and then we played at my parents house for a little while. Then Saturday around noon, my mom had organized a group from Carleton College to tour their neighbor's (Blake and Chicky Otte - Square Deal Dairy) dairy farm, so Henry and I went with. Henry loved the cows! I thought he'd be afraid of them - thinking they were big dogs or something, but he loved them. Even pet the baby calves. The dairy farm is a huge 400 milker operation, it's very technical these days and all computerized -- it was pretty amazing what all goes into farming these days-- not like I remember dad milking when I was younger. So that was fun, then Saturday evening my family went to visit my cousin Cathy Stark (May) and her new baby Avery. We brought her an early shower gift of a baby swing-- hopefully that will help Avery sleep a little better for them... I know the swing saved me, so we hope it helps for them too. Then Sunday we joined the Pagel family for a brunch at Welch Village, Henry had a blast seeing Landon and Miley -- he loves being around other kids. Then Sunday evening we went for dinner at my parents house-- so it was a really busy weekend. Henry was sooo good this whole weekend, I think he likes being busy and going places- he gets stir crazy when he's inside too much. I just couldn't believe how good he was all weekend- there was no crying while putting him down for naps or anything. He's such a good boy. Then this morning my mom took Henry to daycare for me and Brendon will pick him up when he gets home today. Henry will be so surprised-- wish I could be there to see his face this afternoon! Every morning when I'd get Henry from his crib, he's point at our bedroom door and say " da" he's used to us going in there in the morning to see daddy, but I just quickly walked by the door so he wouldn't wonder too much. We're very excited to have daddy home today, though the 4 days he was gone, wasn't nearly as challenging as I thought it would be-- I love my mommy and Henry time!

Henry made me a mother's day gift at daycare.. it's a cute can with his hand prints on it and says hands down my mommy's the best! ... and it was filled with goodies-- what a sweet baby! : )

Henry has become quite the climber... he loves windows already, and now has figured how fun it is to climb on the couch and hang out at those windows!

He also apparently likes tight places... he could barely get in this little opening, but thought he was pretty funny when he got in there!

Fun with Henry

(long post this week-- took lots of pictures : )

A fun filled weekend with mom and Henry. Brendon was a busy man this weekend, he went and helped is dad cut wood in the morning, came home to shower, left for golf, came home to see Henry and me for a little bit, then left to his buddies house for the night. Then napping during Henry's nap, finally we're all back together around 2pm on Sunday. Henry and I enjoyed the park a few times this week and Brady and Angie joined us yesterday. Henry is still just obsessed with going outside. From the minute he wakes up from his naps, he's waiving bye bye.. so we did a lot of hanging outside. He loves rakes and brooms, so I think we swept the drive way for a good hour one day! He's still into his little tantrums.. when he's made he hits his head on the wall, and if there is no wall near, then he hits his head... I hear this is very common, but I don't like it. I'm trying to get him to sign "please" when he wants something rather than hitting his head til he gets what he wants... sometimes it works well.. other times, not so much. Most of the time he's just an awesome kid who makes me laugh... but these few times when the tantrums come, I really don't like it.
I managed to keep up with daycare and stick with the no bottles during the day.. it was pretty easy and Henry didn't seem to care if he had a bottle or not. The only thing was nap time is usually very easy, just give him a bottle and he falls right asleep... so just plopping him in there was a little different, he cried and cried, but really, only for a maybe 3 minutes, then was out cold. We're also trying to work on 1 nap a day rather than 2, since that what will need to happen in July when he moves to the Toddler room.. Sunday it worked (but he also slept in til 8ish). There is still time for this though..

Anyway- some fun pictures and video's.

Playing at the park!

Love his little point!

Henry tipped over a little plant table (no plant on it thankfully) and rode it like a horse-- I think he already has a great imagination! He was bouncing up and down on it and everything.

Another point!

Trying to help mom vacuum-- he loves the Dyson as much as I do!

Henry climbed into a little chair and has had a runny nose all weekend... so I gave him a kleenex and said "blow your nose" and he actually did... put it up and blew just a little.. it was soo cute watching him do it!

Just another shoe obsession picture--

I thought this was funny.. he grabbed some mail that was sitting on the couch and went over to the hallway and just sat there and pretended to read it! What a goof!

An old pic my mom had.. (from March) .. goofing around with grandpa!

Here is the video Brendon will just love.... Henry decided to put on my heel's on and walk around.. he did this all on his own!

Too bad I couldn't get this one to flip-- but it was funny-- another shoe video.. this time with mens shoes!

couple cute pics

My mom just sent me a couple cut pics she had -- she was trying to send me this video I took of Henry (using her camera) this past Wednesday... it was hillarious, so I won't tell anyone what it is until it's posted.. so funny

My mom labeled this one... Henry's first Barney movie... yes, he's hooked! He LOVES Barney. I don't know why I couldn't click on this one to make it bigger-- but his face expression is priceless!

And she labeled this one.. hi mommy! Henry loves the piano's.. the one at his grandma Pagel's house is a lap one, but Henry puts it on the floor and steps on it to make music.. it's cute!
Nothing much new really.. Henry's black eye is very close to healing.. there is just a hint of color left under his eye, I wish that would go away.. .it worries me that it will be there forever. He does have a little scar too... poor boy. Brendon said it makes him tough!

Other good news is Henry is just about weaned off the bottle. Daycare started taking one afternoon bottle away (he typically had 2 during the day) and I took the morning one away starting last weekend. Now the past couple days he hasn't had any in the afternoon! So we're down to just a bottle before bed... which I'm not in a hurry to get rid of. A bottle at night really calms him down, we cuddle and rock in his room while he drinks it, then he goes right to sleep! So we'll see if I can keep up through the weekend with no bottles during the afternoon-- it really helps him go down for naps, but I have to be tough and be consistent. So good job Henry-- such a big boy and growing so fast!
