Home from Portland

This past Tuesday morning I had to leave for Portland for a few days for work.. as with every work trip, I hate hate hate leaving and am miserable without my boy.. but we survived!  I had never been to Portland, and though I barely had time to rest, let-alone sight see, the city seemed pretty cool.  Portland is the the "greenest" city I've ever seen.. which is cool.  Spend a lot of time on the train from hotels to convention centers to airports, but overall it was a good trip.

This is a picture of what I was sent out there to do.. this is our booth this show and I have to go out to our national shows (when the booth is bigger than 200 square feet- and this one was 900 sq feet) and I supervise the set up and the crew that gets it all up and down for us.. we also have a couple techy guys come out and make sure all the equipment is working-- this is only a part of the booth, but you get the idea.  This booth takes almost 3 full days to set up. It's always a little stresful, if one thing doesn't show up when I need it to, it could be a show wrecker!  Over 9000 people came to this show- seemed to be good for us

Portland also has a lot of street vendors, this one was just a block from our hotel.  The other side of it said "honkin hoagies"
Henry found my work badge and my show badge in my purse and wanted to wear them- he thought he was pretty funny
The little stinker went and grabbed his potty (step stool) from the bathroom and carried it to the fridge and then opened up the freezer... he wanted ice cream!
Then we did some art... made some fishy's in the ocean : )
So glad I'm home with my boy!

A Guertin Birthday Party

We had a very fun weekend.  Last week this was just a cute pic I took of Brady and Henry watching a movie before bed.. then this past Sunday we helped celebrate Elsie Guertin's Birthday with a swim party!  Henry and Brendon had a lot of fun in the water- I can't wait to get out in my grandma's pool this summer!

Henry being silly.. no pants on and wearing my shoes playing peek-a-boo with the curtains
The swim party... when we had to get out he was mad and he didn't want to take his "coat" off (life jacket)  : )

So tired

Poor Henry was soo tired this morning.  He didn't sleep great last night, and this morning I changed his diaper and clothes while he laid there with his eyes shut... he's tired many mornings, but usually perks right up.  We didn't race to get dressed against daddy, or race down the stairs to see who could turn the lights on first... he didn't even want to help me make coffee!  He just there and leaned on my shoulder... even to get in the car he just hugged tight and said hug kiss... then off he went.  Brendon said he slept the whole way to daycare and he never does that... then when they got to school, he wanted his nutrigrain bar and ate some fruit and Brendon left... I sure hope he perks up and nothing else is bugging him.  He has had a few runny diapers and last night had several which is not like him... I hope its a quick bug and nothing else.  Good thing is no fever, so I guess I'll just try to be careful on diet this weekend and stick to a good diet that helps the runny diaper situation- I usually do the BRATY diet and seems to work for Henry.  Anyway- I just wanted to stay home and snuggle all morning with my little man...so sad to see him worn out.  But, we have had a very fun week- we've been at the park at least once a day every day, some days even twice and he's been playing out side in our yard and garage on bikes and toys etc... so I guess it was bound to catch up to him.  Maybe we can sleep in tomorrow morning!  : )

Here is the tractor cake I made.. I found a tractor mold and then tried to decorate it according to a picture... I'm not very good at it.. but I think it turned out ok...

Ultrsound Day!

Yesterday I had my ultrasound!  It was a great day- Brendon and I planned to both take the day off and spend the day together- just the two of us... I can't even remember when did something- just the two of us... we go out with friends when we have a night off- but never just us, so it was long over due.

Started the day with sleeping in a little- since Henry didn't sleep well that night- it was nice.  He came in our room at 2am (he never does that- he always stays in his room until I go in there) and stood next to our bed and said "Hi mommy" wide awake.. then said "toons" (we watch toons on the weekends in bed)...  what a terd.  So we tried to keep his schedule as normal as possible, get up, dressed, breakfast, and off to school with dad... but he didn't have a great morning and through a fit when Brendon left : (  he knew it wasn't normal I guess.  Then I did some cleaning of bathtubs, and vacuuming, etc... and then Brendon and I left for the ultrasound in Woodbury.  It was so great- as soon as the technician put the thing on my stomach and it came up on the big flat screen- I said oh thank god there is only 1 and she laughed.  We though it all and did not find out the gender- we had to close our eyes during that part.  The baby looked great and was moving a lot.  I did find out the placenta is in the front which is why I haven't been feeling a lot of action in there yet- she said it acts as a pillow between the baby and you.. but we could see the baby flipping around a moving a lot.  The measurements looked like the baby was smaller than the 20 1/2 weeks that the Dr's and I figured... but Henry was 1 week smaller than we said too at his ultrasound- I think we just make small babies.. but knew I might have been off a week or so on my dates.. so not sure if they will change the due date or not- my Dr knew I was going for delivery at 40 or 41 weeks anyway- so we'll talk more about that at my next appt.  Other than that- it just never ceases to amaze me at the ultrasounds- soo stinkin cool and amazing to see the growth in our little one in 20 short weeks!

Then we went to the mall in Woodbury to get his wedding ring sized that I gave him for Christmas to replace the lost one, then we went to lunch in Baja Sol in Inver Grove Heights, then to a consignment store, then to a movie, then to Hastings to run to the grocery store quick and the vacuum fix it place for a part, then home.  So a long day, but really fun.

I can't seem to get the ultrasound pics scanned and on here right- they end up sideways... hmm... I'll put them on my facebook page if anyone wants to see them!  : )

20 week Dr appt

Had my 20 week Dr appt this morning.  All things are great- I've only gained 6lbs thruogh this pregnancy so far- I feel like I eat a lot of junk lately too (like girl scout cookies) but it seems to be working!  : )  She said usually people gain a little more than that by this stage, but as long as I continue to gain a little each time then it's all good.  Baby's heartbeat is 152, 4 weeks ago it was 148- Henry's heartbeat at 20 weeks was 140.  Everything else is great- blood pressure continues to actually get better each time and I'm so glad they stopped doing the pee-in-a-cup thing before each visit- saves a lot of time!  I'll have another appt at 24 weeks- just a standard heartbeat check, then at 28 she'll do a full cervical check and I'll have the glucose test done too- then from there it's bi-weekly visits!

She asked me if we were going to find out the gender and I told her no and she was very excited for that.  She asked if I had a guess and I said not really, she said well it's a win win either way- if it's a girl you get a girl and one of each... and if it's a boy, then Henry get's a brother!  : )  Honestly, we don't care much what the gender is, but I do sort of think it would be great to have a brother for Henry.

We talked more about possible c-section again and we're just playing it out and seeing how I progress.  She said I can pick a date fort he c-section at 39, 40 or 41 weeks and if I would happen to go into labor before that- then that would be awesome.  I told her I liked the idea of closer to 41 weeks - partly because Henry was 41 1/2 weeks and only 6lbs 5oz...  so right now we'll just wait til I get further along to see how things progress.. In my head I'm ready for a repeat c-section, but if something happens where I can delivery naturally than that would be awesome-- the only nice thing about a c-section is I get 2 more weeks off PAID!  (2 weeks makes a huge difference on maternity leave).

Ultrasound tomorrow-- wahoo!  Can't wait to see our little baby moving around in there!

20 weeks

So today hits a big milestone of 20 weeks!  Half way there!   So far this 20 weeks has been very easy (knock on wood).. I have never gotten sick, not too tired, no aches or pains except a little back/hip problem that I've had for years though, and haven't had any emotional crazies yet, etc... so far a pregnancy just like Henry's- if I could bless every pregnant woman with the way I have have felt- I totally would!  I couldn't even imagine being sick or have trouble being pregnant- I am very lucky to say the least.

The one difference so far with this pregnancy is that I don't feel much rockin and rollin in there yet- I did a few weeks ago and now it's just very faint every now and then.... by this time with Henry I was really feeeling it.  But I remember there is a difference in when and how you feel the baby moving on where the placenta is located - like if it's front or back basically- I'm wondering if maybe mine is just the opposite way it was with Henry this time around... and we were never really exactly sure on the "date" this time around too- with Henry we knew exactly between 4-8 days after we got married I got pregnant and this time I just never really paid that close of attention, so I could be a week or so off... but both times at the Dr thus far they figured I was right on with the size of my uterus and such.  So I have my 20 week Dr appt on Wed morning and then we have the Ultrasound on Thursday- I'm soo excited to see this little baby in my belly!  We are NOT finding out the gender- it was such a wonderful surprise with Henry, so I'm all about that once in a life time memory with this little baby!

Henry also turns 2 on Sunday!  WOW- 2 years old already!  And what a great kid he is turing out to be.  He listens very well (most of the time) the other night when Pam and Ken were over Henry went to go get a treat and then he came back with another treat and Brendon said , No Henry- only 1... Henry said "Ok dad" and went and put it back!  (it doesn't normally happen quite that way : ) He loves to say no, but then also loves to say "sure and OK" when we ask him to do things.  He loves loves being outside.  He's great at going to bed now and we must say "crayers" or prayers every night along with singing Twinkle Twinkle and Mr Sun and sometimes the ABC's too.. he's a good eater for the most part- he's not big on hamburger (like in hotdishes) but most other stuff he'll eat fine-- most meat we call "steak" because he says he loves steak!  He sure has gotten a sweet tooth lately- when he was little I never really let him have any real treat- no cookies or bars or anything like that... but he's now gotten a taste and will actually move our kitchen chairs around to where he needs to get the treat then will climb up and chow down... I think his favorite is peanut M&M's!  We're really lucky with a good boy-- he can sure have moments of little tantrums, but nothing too much yet- so I hope we must miss the whole terrible two thing.. : ) I do hear with many kids- 3's are worse than 2's.... so I'm sure it's just around the corner!  He's also doing good on the potty- about the same now for several months-- he goes #2 but he's not really into peeing on the potty... opposite from most kids I guess.  He goes in the potty a few times a week- most times he tells us after the fact, but we still go and sit and do the little routine.  For his birthday I know he's getting some "nunndies" (as he calls them), his cousin Brady already got him some Handy Manny ones, and we got him some Thomas the Train ones... he puts them on for a couple minutes then say "done"....

So 2 years with Henry has been awesome-- we really are lucky to have such a happy healthy kid! Now I hope this baby will be the same! : )
