Oh Henry

Henry is just so funny- he's just about always had some sort of obsession with shoes... here is he trying to put mine on! Don't worry- he also tries to put Brendon's on, so it's not just women's shows or anything like that! : )

Henry loves to HELP with laundry... his help is to take every single piece of clothing, put it over his head and thowing it down-- then picking each one up again.. it's pretty funny and keeps him entertained for a good half hour! : )

Henry is getting pretty good at using a fork.. he likes to stab the food and eat it-- sometimes he stabs the food, then takes the food off with his hand and put's it in his mouth that way-- the fork never lasts all through dinner, but he tries for a while all on his own- I just hand him the fork.

Henry had is 2nd ever sleep over this past Friday night. My parents took him while Brendon and I hosted card club... he did great and Saturday I could tell he was still worn out, he took over an hour nap in the morning and after a little over 3 hours in the afternoon nap, I woke him up! What a good boy : )

Our little monkey man! Henry love to climb up on the railings between the living room and kitchen.. he walks across it, plays peek-a-boo and gives kisses inbetween the bars! What a little funny pants

Everything else at the Pagel house is good!

Sweet Henry not so sweet

Henry is really just a sweet sweet baby-- however, he's recently learned a new trick. Tantrums! For a few weeks he'd get upset at something and would sit down and then fling straight back and hit his head back on the floor- no matter what kind of floor it would be! Then he'd hurt his head and cry. I know you are supposed to ignore tantrums, so I did my best to just walk away when he did it-- unless he hit his head really hard and needed some lovin. I haven't seen him do it recently, so I hope it's over. He is also in a stage now where he cries when we leave.. he used to just waive good bye and take off or not even look back when you dropped him off at daycare -- Brendon says just about every day now, Henry screams and cries when he leaves. I think it's slowly getting better, and Brendon sometimes sits outside the door where Henry can't see him and he waits to hear that he's calmed down before actually leaving and says he usually stops within a minute or two... but I still hate that he does it. The school says this happens to most kids and it's just a phase so I don't worry much about it, I do feel bad though.

Other than that, things are good at the Pagel house. We got some new living room furniture recently for a great deal-- our stuff we had was from when I moved into my townhouse 10 years ago! So we moved it down to the basement and put the new stuff upstairs- I love it! We also splurged a bit and got a patio set for the deck. We said when we bought the house this was something we wanted to get-- a nice big set since our deck is pretty large. It arrived last week and Brendon got it all put together and that too is awesome-- Last week when it was really nice outside it was so fun to play on the deck with Henry and we even at dinner outside! Henry sure loved being oustide, he could have sat out there all night!

12 month Dr visit

Just some pics from over the weekend.

Henry got this new toybox from Unky Theron and his daddy... Henry tries to climb in it, it's pretty cute!

Here is Henry in his cute froggy pj's and sitting in his chair we got him... note phone in hand! He's so his daddy's child! : )

Heny had his 12 month Dr visit today and things were all just great until the shots... it's almost like he knew they were coming... as soon as we laid him on the table, he started crying. Poor guy. He got 3 awful shots and that stupid lead test (finger poke) one... I say they are dumb and stupid not because I think they are bad... but I hate making my boy cry. He soon got over it and was all happy again. We came home, ate dinner, took a bath, went for a walk, played, then off to la la land. I hope he sleeps well tonight.

Henry weighed 23.2 lbs which is the 53% and his height was 30.5 inches tall which is the 70th %. Last check he was 21.6 lbs and 30". They said he's "on the curve" just right and thinks he'll probably have a growth spurt soon since he only grew 1/2 inch in 3 months. So he's just right! : ) His head is the 67% (must be lots of brains!!) : )

Daddy's home

Brendon is home! Brendon and some buddies left Thursday night to go to southern IL for some golf. Brendon was so excited to start golfing and I was excited to have some Henry time! My mom helped out by picking Henry up on Thursday evening and bringing him to daycare (it's on her way to work) on Friday morning and then I went and picked him up Friday afternoon. On Friday at daycare Henry took a 4 hour morning nap and an he was sleeping for over an hour when I got there around 4:30 that afternoon! WOW-- what a champ! So we were on our own Thursday night until this morning! Brendon came home Sunday night a little after 8pm, but Henry was already asleep for the night. We pretty much stayed at home the whole time until Sunday I went to a baby shower and Henry got to go to his grandma and grandpa's with his cousin Brady for a little while. It was so nice my dad took Henry and Brady on a 4-wheeler ride.. Henry loves being outside. Then we went inside to play and have dinner and Henry sure does get worn out there (must be from all the running and chasing we do there) and he fell asleep as soon as we got home. I have decided that I could never be a single mom! I loved every minute of having Henry, but we did get stir crazy on Saturday afternoon. Henry was soo good, but it's nice to have a little help with everyday things now and then. It will be a lot better when we can get outside more. I took Henry out Friday night for a walk and it was a little chilly so we didn't stay out too long, but he just loves it so much.

Henry has a his 12 month Dr appt today. I'm not sure about giving him the shots today, this weekend he's ran a slight temp a few times, (I think due to teething) and last time we did shots right after having a temp he got really sick. I might just ask to hold off til the 15 month appt.. but we'll see. I am excited to see his height, weight etc. He seems to have been wearing his 12 month size clothes for quite a while now, so I'm waiting for his next growth spurt.

I took a bunch of pictures this weekend that I'll try to post this week.

My sisters came over Saturday morning and we tried making homemade laundry soap! We found an easy recipe and some of our friends do it too. you get about 4 gallons of laundry soap for a total of about $1.75! But it looks like 2 of our 4 batches didn't turn out-- 2 of them never gelled like they were supposed to... must be the bar soap we used in it. 2 Batches we used Irish Spring and 2 we used Oil of Olay and I think Oil of Olay ones didn't work quite right... but at that price, you can afford to make a new batch pretty easy! I haven't tried doing laundry with it yet, but I'll update everyone once we try it out.

Happy 1st Birthday Henry!

Our baby - I guess Toddler- is 1 year old! March 7th, 10:20am, 1 year ago, the love of our life was born! Henry is just such a wonderful kid. He's walking around like crazy now and is pretty good at it. He's sleeping very well- most times sleeps through the night. He has developed a funny personality of peek-a-boo's, pulling toes, and grabbing noses! He's mostly just a happy kid!

Yesterday (Sat) we had his first birthday party. Henry was so very spoiled with his family all around him and lots of fun presents. Uncle Theron and Brendon made Henry a barn toybox! It even has original barn boards from Therons (Grandma Pagel's) farm house! It turned out great! He also got an awesome John Deere wagon from his grandma and grandpa Niebur, Savings bonds, cash, clothes, a cute Cars chair, puzzles, a toy phone, balls and more! He just loves it all- we're still having fun today will all the new stuff. I prepared a nice meal of parmesan chicken, spinach lasagna roll-ups, italian pasta salad, and rolls. I'm glad it all turned out good. Then I "attempted" at making cute cakes for Henry. He's soo into balls, especially footballs, so I made a cake and then cut it out in the shape of football and decorated it too- I'm not a very good froster- but oh well. Then for everyone else I made a regular cake and frosted it to look like a football field. I even found little football players and goal posts at the store.. so kinda cute.

Thanks everyone for coming to the big event and for all the wonderful gifts! Henry is a very lucky kid!

Almost forgot-- we got Henry's proofs from his 1 year pictures! They turned out just wonderful! to see them click on this link http://digital-ink-studio.com/, then go to "portraits" then click "client" and type the password h.pagel

Pots n Pans

I don't know what it is about pots n pans, but kids love em! This morning while I was cooking breakfast Henry went for his favorite cupboard which is the pots n pans one, and flipped over a pot so I handed him a couple wooden spoons and he was going to town! How funny.

Henry has been doing so great this week- he's starting to "talk" so much lately and now he points at everything too- everything he wants he points with one finger and before he'd just stretch his hand out.

These are some cowboy boots we got- Henry didn't really know what to think when we put them on, he likes to play with them more than wearing them. Check out his rolley polley legs.. I love them!

A video of Henry jammin' on the pots n pans : )
